The Rotes Haus on Nussberg

Since 2001, the VWG "Vienna 19" Weinmarketing GmbH cultivates vineyards in the most famous wine-growing area of Vienna, the Nussberg. Not only do the climatic and geographic top conditions make this vineyard a jewel, but also the splendid view of Vienna. The charming "Rotes Haus", situated amidst the vineyard, gives the wine its name.

The soil, the southerly exposition towards the Danube and the extraordinary micro climate – cool nights and warm air streams from the Pannonian territory – bestow the wines of Nussberg with spicy, exotic and mineral notes. Right in the core of this extraordinary vineyard, the grape varieties Grüner Veltliner and Traminer are grown. They produce the two types of Gemischter Satz, "Rotes Haus Classic" and "Rotes Haus Reserve", as well as the "Traminer Rotes Haus", "Grüner Veltliner Rotes Haus" and "Rotes Haus Cuvée Rot".

The motto "quality instead of quantity" provides for wines of extraordinary character originating in best Viennese single vineyards. The instalment of a new management of the traditional winery "Mayer am Pfarrplatz" in 2006 allows for a qualitative vinification at the winery at Pfarrplatz.
